Clientele

The Germanic studies collections serves the needs of the German programs offered by the Department of Central, Eastern & Northern European Studies, as well as a number of units across campus including the Comparative Literature program and the Department of History.

Current areas of collecting

The Germanic studies selector covers German language, linguistics, literature, and history of Germanic civilization.

Form

Indexes and abstracts, bibliographies, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, handbooks, biographical sources, and other major reference sources relevant to German studies are collected.

Publication date

The majority of acquisitions will be for current publications.

Languages

German, to a lesser extent Swedish, and marginally Danish, Icelandic and Norwegian. Primary sources in English translation and secondary sources translated or originally published in English.

Geographic origin

Mainly publications from Germany, Austria, Switzerland; some from other European countries of North America.
