Scholarship is changing quickly in the digital world. UBC Library supports open access authors, editors and researchers at UBC. UBC Library’s commitment to open access extends to support memberships with a variety of open access journals and organizations, providing benefits to researchers at UBC.

  • BioMed Central publishes 199 peer reviewed open access journals. UBC Library’s Supporters Membership provides a 15% discount on article submission for researchers at UBC to any of these journals.
  • Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is a directory of 5052 open access scholarly journals.
  • Hindawi publishes over 200 peer reviewed open access journals, such as Advances in Bioinformatics, Cholesterol, Neural Plasticity, and more. UBC Library’s institutional membership provides a 100% discount on article submission for researchers at UBC.
  • Nucleic Acids Research is one of the top ten most influential journals in biology & medicine. UBC Library’s membership provides a 50% discount on article submission for researchers at UBC.
  • Open Medicine is a peer reviewed, open access journal in the medical field.
  • Public Library of Science journals are seven peer reviewed open access biomedical journals. UBC Library’s membership provides a 10% discount on article submission for researchers at UBC.
  • Scholarly Publishing & Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) is a coalition of academic and research libraries seeking to make scholarly communication more open and reduce the financial burden of traditional scholarly publishing on libraries.
